Important Notes

Kit-specific assembly instructions are not included, but our DIY Dock Builder's Guide provides detailed step-by-step building instructions.

Connection kits are not included. If you need to connect dock modules or connect to the shoreline, be sure to add a Connection Kit.

Due to normal plastic shrinkage, dock floats may be 1–2% smaller than their advertised size. We highly recommend waiting until floats arrive before cutting any lumber.

“Float Freeboard” is measured from the top of the float to the water surface under dead load only. Live load (people, furniture, equipment) will reduce freeboard.

All freeboard values may vary slightly depending on lumber species, decking weight, and environmental factors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s):

Q: I'm not sure what I need. Can someone help me plan my dock?
A: Absolutely. Visit our Contact Page for live, U.S.-based support via phone and email.

Q: What is Freeboard? What is Float Freeboard?
A: Freeboard is the distance from the top of the dock to the waterline. Float Freeboard measures from the top of the float to the waterline. Because dock materials vary in height, all Dock Shop DIY Kits use float freeboard for consistent, standardized measurements.

Q: Does this kit include framing lumber and/or decking?
A: No. Framing lumber and decking is not included. Kits are compatible with 2x6 or 2x8 pressure treated framing lumber, as well as both wood and composite decking.

Q: Are connection kits included?
A: No. Plan for one Dock Shop Connection Kit to connect each module and to the shoreline if required.
